CineVista Theaters of Mayaguez Has Finally Closed. Worked loaded equipment into trucks at the Mayaguez mall location on Thursday, October 23rd, 2008.
I have not determined the exact reason for the closure of CineVista Theaters in Mayaguez yet, but I suspect they have become insolvent. I was told that both Mayaguez locations, including the conveniently located one at the Mayaguez Mall, have closed.
I drove to the mall today and observed workers loading equipment into trucks. I was hoping Caribbean Cinemas or some other firm would have taken over. Instead it looks like they’ll soon be pulling the copper wires out of the walls, sending left over popcorn seeds back to Orville Redenbacher for a refund, and checking under seats for loose change and stale Indiana Jones Mint Flavored M&Ms. So those of you from the Western side of Mayaguez, Cabo Rojo, and surrounding areas will have to travel as far as Sam’s Club in order to see a movie with your family now.

A message to the punks who put graffiti on several CineVista PR theater walls prior to closing:
You should be ashamed of yourself. Keep it up. You are getting a quick start on your way to the adult world of “litigation“, “punitive damages“, “criminal charges” and “incarceration“. Look those terms up as a part of your homework assignment. If caught, I personally recommend you be given a sentence of community service at a local boxing gym, where you may fulfill the role of “living heavy bag” for Puerto Rico’s finest up and coming pugilists. Maybe that would knock some sense into you.
