Do you remember my post asking if Cabo Rojo built roads at 1 Billion Dollars Per Mile?
I was referring to an important section of road that had been torn up for years, blocking 1 of the 2 main entrances to the Cabo Rojo pueblo from Highway 101. I labeled it "Snail" Road because of how damn long it was taking to finish it.
In any event, I am extremely pleased (as I am sure residents and business owners of Cabo Rojo downtown) to inform you that a nice new coat of asphalt has been put down and the road has been opened to traffic.
Rome may not have been built in a day. But Rome certainly would never have been finished in Cabo Rojo!
However, it is just about impossible not to comment on the timing. Did our incumbent Cabo Rojo mayoral candidate, the Honorable Perza Rodríguez of the PNP (Partido Nuevo Progresista, or "New Progressive Party" in English), have anything to do with getting this project completed prior to voting day?
Maybe, just maybe, it had something to do with Luis Fortuño's "caravana" of cars that circled through Cabo Rojo waving flags & blowing horns on Sunday, October 19th... They definitely needed a way to get all of those cars back out of the town.
Attention Perza / Luis: Remind your supporters that seat belt laws should still apply during campaigning, particularly for those with kids around 6 years of age I saw hanging out the back of the cars in the convoy. Needless to say, "Kid Falls to Death from Car Window in Fortuno Parade" will not be a very enticing headline for your campaigns.
