The End of a Dynasty?

In my personal opinion, I cannot wait for the Dynasty Oriental Restaurant ("All You Can Eat Buffet") in Mayaguez to close up for good. Now I do not have any direct evidence that is going to happen, but I do have a strong feeling the restaurant's dayes are numbered. If everyone has a similar experience as I did, it simply cannot last much longer.

After returning from a recent business trip to San Francisco, and being spoiled by some amazing Dim Sum, I tricked myself into trying Dynasty "again". Yes, I had already sworn it off over a year ago, pledging to never return. After being so completely satisfied with the food everywhere in San Francisco, I was not obviously not thinking clearly. 10 minutes later... reality struck me... and hard.

The reason I did not like The Dynasty when when it first opened was that I felt the quality of the food left a lot to be desired, and that's being nice I can assure you. My impression was that the meat dishes were more than just a little off.

Now sometimes a bad taste can just be poor preparation, or perhaps a marinade or spice not familiar to me. Yet, I really felt like I was consuming "bad meat". As a disclaimer, I want to be sure to let everyone know I cannot confirm anything about the age, quality, preparation, or storage methods, etc, of any of the food items at Dynasty.

What I'm providing here is an account of my personal experience, and my speculation as to what was wrong. Our recent experience was worse than ever before. We could hardly finish anything on our plates without getting sick. The place was also notably empty during the busy mid week dinner hour.

FYI - My spouse confirmed the same, discretely spitting out some of the meat without alarming anyone, and quickly jettisoning off to the dessert bar to see if there was anything sweet to take the bad taste from their mouth.

Needless to say, I will never go the Dynasty Oriental Restaurant ever again.

Since I would like to see more dining options for Mayaguez (i.e. Applebee's just doesn't cut it, B-), my hope is that some new franchise sweeps in and takes over this building since it's already equipped. Until that happens, I'm going to be very much like the car in the photo... driving by. Remember, Long Horn's and The Sizzler are in the same lot if you turn in by accident, and they are profoundly better choices... in my opinion.

What is your opinion on the Dynasty Oriental Restaurant?
