I previously wrote about how to get Netflix to work in Puerto Rico with a proxy. However, I do not believe the same method will work for Google TV from Sony.

Getting Netflix to work on your computer is a little easier. Basically, the proxy/VPN service will install a small application. When you run that software it will give your computer an IP address that makes it appear to be located in the United States. This is what is required before Netflix will allow you to view its streamed movies.

With Google TV (running on Android) you will NOT be able to install the same application used on your computer. I have researched a method that should work, and I will include details in the next post.

Here is a link to the proxy/VPN service that will allow you to watch Netflix in Puerto Rico:

The Strong VPN website says that it does allow you to configure your router to run over its VPN. That means the following:

If you install the Strong VPN on your router, every device that connects to your router will appear to be from a United States mainland address.

This will allow you to watch Netflix streaming. This will work for your laptop or desktop computer, as well as Google TV connected to the router.

To make it work, you will need to upgrade the firmware on your router. Unfortunately this step is somewhat complex and you may need to get assistance from someone experienced in computers if you do not want to try to do it yourself. For those of you who are non-technical, your router is the box that you connect your computer to in order to get hooked up to the Internet (see the photo).

Here is a list of the known routers that are supported with Strong VPN:

Dlink DSL-500T
Draytek Vigor 8020

If you do not have either of these two models, you can also search the database of supported routers to find yours.

One you have a supported router, you will need to upgrade the firmware. A video showing you how to do this is included in the gallery below. Click the image of the man to play it.

Now you will have to follow all instructions to configure your DD-WRT router. Tutorials and videos are available here.

Follow the videos very carefully. If you need help, ask for support from the Strong VPN support team.
