The Canadian National Post published a story showing the dramatic cleanup efforts of the Japanese after the massive earthquake that rocked their country and left a wake of incredible destruction. It's amazing to see the difference in what the disaster left them with and how they have been able to clean up some of the impacted areas, preparing them for a full rebuild. After being surprised and impressed with their accomplishments so far... I wondered...
Why can't Puerto Rico clean up its trash and get stray dogs and cats off the street without massacring them?
For an island nation that really needs to focus on growing their tourism industry, such minor problems as island wide animal pickup and trash removal seem so insignificant a challenge.
Does it seem too costly?
How much does it cost for Fortuno to make a public statement asking Puerto Rico's citizens to take more pride in their Island... to avoid discarding trash... and even go so far as to pick up and dispose stuff they find already disgarded in their otherwise beautiful country?
Better question... how much does it cost to NOT do something about it?
