Hi Whitney,
Netflix no longer requires a proxy to work in Puerto Rico. This is great news!If you are going to sign up for Netflix and want it to play on your TV instead of just your computer, you can get a ROKU box to make it work.

Hi fly86,
If you still need a Proxy or VPN for any reason, here is the link.
Hey Carlos,
The good news is that Neflix no longer requires a proxy to work in Puerto Rico! =) So if you are subscribed to Netflix you should be able to watch all of their streaming movies now.
However, if you want to watch them directly on your TV, I'm now recommending the ROKU box. It's the #1 Netflix to TV device on Amazon.

Hi Adolpho,
Netflix made an announcement that they are providing streaming video service in Puerto Rico now. You should check back with their website and contact customer support if it's telling you otherwise.
You do NOT need a proxy any more. It will work without it.
If you are interested in watching your Netflix movies on your TV (instead of your computer) then I recommend you get a ROKU box or other Netflix compatible player for your TV.
Hey Christopher - The good news is that we don't need proxies any more! =)
Netflix announced that they are now allowing everyone in Puerto Rico to watch streaming videos. That means you no longer need a proxy.
Tip: If you want to be able to watching your Netflix streaming movies on your TV instead of just your computer, I'm recommending the ROKU box or any Netflix compatible TV device.
Not so... I went to Roku site and I chatted with the cs and they stated that it is only available within the 50 states, also I have netflix setup thru my PS3 and I cannot as of 07/14/2011 stream any movies at all. If I am incorrect or doing something wrong please correct me and explain what needs to be done.
Hey haloguy22 - I'm going to check this out now and post back for you. Netflix made the announcement that it would be made available in Puerto Rico. I was under the impression that it was *immediately* available.
I'm not sure why they would announce they *will* do it when they really just have to press a single button and it would allow everyone in Puerto Rico to take advantage.
They did do one sort of sneaky thing this week though. They took a streaming + 1 DVD package, split it into two separate packages and charged around $8 for each (total $16). Previously the whole package was only $10 for all. People on the Web are not happy about it.
I just checked the info on Engadget. They seem to indicate that it's working now on PCs and phones. I'll check with ROKU to find out why there would be any difference with their service or even your PS3.
Thank you... I just want to clarify... I'm able to stream directly on my notebook, however the issue is doing so with the PS3. ROKU would be a great option... I would buy the product right now if I had certainty that it would work in Puerto Rico. Thank you in advance for all your help.
Wow, that's very strange that the PS3 is not working. Maybe it's just some settings that need to be changed? I'd check with the PS3 guys to be sure.
Also - I sent a support ticket to ROKU. I let them know about the change, so I'm hoping to get confirmation from them that there is no issue with it working in Puerto Rico. =)
Question: Do you know if Amazon VOD is working in Puerto Rico? I'm not on the island now so I can't check. If you begin try to rent one it should tell you if it's restricted or not. I can't seem to find an info on the site for Puerto Rico.
I will look into contacting PS3 folks... as for the Amazon VOD unfortunately I have the Samsung LN46B630N and it is not supported by Amazon they also do not offer it through PS3. Sorry
Hi Luis - Netflix no longer requires a proxy for Puerto Rico. If you have a Netflix package that includes "Watch Instantly" (streaming video) you should be able to play those movies on your computer now.
No proxy required. This was a recent announcement by Netflix.
Bad news.
Even thought Netflix is now streaming in Puerto Rico... ROKU support still apparently thinks Puerto Rico falls into the class of "foreign country".
The support representative claims that Netflix cannot be used through the ROKU device. If anyone can confirm this to be true, please post here.
Here is what ROKU support told me yesterday:

I would like to inform you that the Roku player doesn't work outside the 50 US states and District of Columbia because of licensing agreements with the content providers.
In future we are looking forward to extend our services to foreign countries. Please feel free to email us for further queries.
