French citizens who went through part of the Scientology indoctrination process, are now filing lawsuits. Apparently they never read L. Ron Hubbard's "Dianetics" book, or anything related to Scientology before signing up... because they seem to be shocked now.
CNN reports that the women decided to file a lawsuit after being scanned with an E-Meter (electropsychometer), and then directed to buy vitamins.
Strong words came out of France's Scientology spokeswoman: "This is a process in heresy". Actually, there is may be reasonable doubt that this was a planned lawsuit all along for publicity and a cash payoff.
Unless you are involved with Scientology you probably are thinking you hope the lawsuit succeeds and they are closed down in France, right?
Be careful what you wish for. Can you imagine if every "religion" in the world was suddenly required to provide evidence for their claims? God help you Mormons - you've got some real explaining to do! Ask Bill Mayer. In fact, Science is the world's only religion that requires evidence, which is quickly corrupted by its spin-off sects such as Capitalism and Pharmacology.
The key point for anyone reading this is: Step back and look at your own beliefs. If you were not raised up on them, would they really seem reasonable? What seems so obviously bogus in one religion probably has something very comparable in your own. Look a little deeper before you condemn. However, realize that the entire world is powered by belief in one system or another, each of them selling their own brand of snake oil. If you're right, then millions of others are wrong. How sad?
I personally know several Christians expecting for their clothes to one day drop to the ground as they vanish and are taken to heaven to be spared by Jesus before the Apocalypse takes out the rest of humanity. I am NOT saying that is not true. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. However, doesn't a claim on that scale make a claim that an electronic device can decide whether or not you need vitamins sound a bit more reasonable?
When asked for comment, Tom Cruise, GNC, Vitamin World, the Mormons, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Islamists, Naturalists, Pfizer, Bayer, GlaxoSmithKline, MBAs, Home Shopping Network, and even Barack Obama refused to comment. Each of them is selling their own brand of E-Meter.
